I want to wish a Happy Mother's Day to someone that I love so much. I found some old pictures and some not-so-old pictures that I wanted to post of my mother. Look how beautiful she was/is. This first picture was taken back when she was in high school I believe. Back in the 1940's. This is probably what she looked like when my daddy fell in love with her!!!
Of course, this is a picture of her in the beauty pageant in Crane. If you look closely, you can pick out which one is her because she is the prettiest one there.
My mother loved to do fun things. ..... If I didn't know better I would say this is her under the mask. hahaha The reason I say that is because she used to dress up at Halloween and come to the school to our classrooms and surprise us kids. I would be the only one in my class who would know who the "crazy" lady was. She'd either be dressed up as a clown or some other character. She had a friend who did her makeup and everything one year and it was always hilarious. One year at Halloween, she put a sheet over herself and got up in the tree in our front yard and scared all the kids as they came to the house to get candy. Then after a while, she got down out of the tree and sat on the porch with the sheet over her. The kids thought it was just a dummy sitting there on the porch, but when they would ring the doorbell, she would jump at them and scare them to death. One thing about it, we didn't have to give out much candy that way because all the kids would run away!!!!!
This is a picture of Dana, me, mother, and Daddy, and Marion on a trip we took back east to Craig's wedding. Gary hadn't met up with us yet. He had to fly up because of being in football at college. But look at the goofy look on Mother's face. We had some fun vacations! Lots of laughs, that's for sure. That is one of the many things I love about her...the way she laughs.
This is Mother and Daddy at Gary's wedding. Didn't she look beautiful? Quite the change from how she dressed up at Halloween!
This is one of the latest pictures we have of Mother. It was taken in Ruidoso last November. We had a little birthday party for her and got some good pictures. It was lots of fun. I just wanted everyone to know how much I love my mom and all she has done for me, all that she taught me, all that she endured with me, and how much I miss being close to her. I haven't lived close to her since 1977 when I left home and went to college! That's a long time! But I love her just the same now as I did back then... I LOVE YOU, MOTHER! HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

Aww. What a sweet post. I love reading about Nanny before I even knew her. It sounds like she was a fun mom and that Halloween story is SO funny. I can see her laughing so loud and long about scaring people. Our family always thinks that is hysterical!! She was a little cutie huh?? Thanks for the stories. I really do love reading them!!! Happy Mother's Day to you too!!! Your first one as a grandmother, huh?? I hope you had a great day! :)
