I know we have all stood in a check-out line at Wal Mart or some other store and gotten aggravated about how slow it was moving along. Well, on Friday night Jim and I went to Wal Mart to get some groceries. There were quite a few people there and we stood in line for a bit when we finally were ready to check out. As we got closer to the front of the line, I could see the checker was an older lady, probably about my mother's age. She was moving pretty slow. It was probably 8:00 that evening and she most likely had been on her feet for a while. Anyway, I didn't say much to her, but as she was checking our groceries, Jim said something to her.
The conversation went kind of like this. "Is it about time for you to go home?" She said, "Yes, you are my last customer and then I get to go home." Jim said, "Do you have to work tomorrow?" She said, "No, I have Saturday and Sunday off and I am so glad." He said, "I bet you're tired." She said, "Yes, I fell last week on the ice and I have been hurting ever since then."
Anyway, he continued to carry on a little conversation with her and I thought to myself that he's probably the only person that had even shown an ounce of kindness to her that day. She really seemed to appreciate someone actually talking nicely to her and I was so impressed with how kind Jim was to her. He's always doing stuff like that to people he doesn't even know. I thought it was so thoughtful and I love that about him. Just thought I'd share...
Here's a cute picture of Jim and Brody when Brody was visiting during Christmas. Brody loves it when Grandpa takes him outside to see the chickens. He LOVEs chickens!
And here's a picture of Jim and his best friend of all time, Pete Whipple. He and Pete have a special bond and sure have a lot of fun together. He and Chris came by to tell Jim happy birthday last month. (Chris made a delicious Texas sheet cake for him. It was delicious!)
Have a good week, everyone! (I don't even want to talk about the Super Bowl...)

ok, I won't talk about it...just write. They sure have nothing to be ashamed about..we listened all the way home! Jim, You must have really made the day for the cashier... we had a blast Saturday with you both! Good laughs! I always feel better after visits with you guys!(too bad I didn't have my camera to blog about it!)
Dad really is a great guy. Every single person taht I have ever brought over has thought he was the best and really funny and so inviting. Josh was telling me how he thought ti was so funny because he was talking to dad and couldn't help but think that he was talking to me. He says we have the same facial expressions and sayings and stuff. funny. I'm really glad to say you're my dad, dad.
Out of all of my uncle's I can always remember Uncle Jim being so kind to me. I dont know if you remember but when you guys lived in Vernin (sp?) you took care of us girls so Mom and Dad could move us to New River. Gosh I must have been 8-9 at the time. Anyway you were feeding the missionaries or one of the boys older friend (can't remember but I know you had company it was morning) and I was not at the table yet and Uncle Jim asked what I was doing and my MEAN older sister said she is putting her bra on. Well when I came to the table Uncle Jim began to sing "Jessica ka ka ka wears a bra bra bra" 20yrs later and my 6 year old sings that song to me. At the time I wanted to die but now it's one of my funniest memories growing up. I love Uncle Jim very much.
That was a very nice post Tamra. You are a great guy Jim! He reminds me alot of my husband, Richard. That is exactly the sort of thing he does when we are in line. Keep up the good work!
Yes Dad is a very great guy. I look up to him greatly and always have. No doubt he was mine and all my friends favorite teacher and they still talk about him...specially Colbi, Kaylee and Nancy! It amazes me how everywhere he goes he finds someone to talk to...like the fabric store in Thatcher! haha. It seems that everytime we start to talk about family when I'm with the inlaws, there is always a funny story about dad. I love you dad!
mom, what do you mean about my language? I didn't say one bad word in that post. I was quoting CODY.
When I told Tamra it was time for a new post, that I didn't like the toilet paper post, she comes up with this. Maybe the toilet paper wasn't so bad after all - this is a little embarrassing.
