July 4 weekend

We went camping over the July 4th weekend. It was so much fun. Danica and Cody came up which was great. We haven't spent a lot of time with them. Well, not since we went to New York with them last year. So it's been a while.

We camped by Greens Peak again. It is such a beautiful place.

I raked a spot for Cody and Danica to set up their tent. There were lots of sticks and horse poop. haha Someone had used the area to set up a temporary horse corral I guess. (Dang horse people. haha )
Danica and Cody got busy setting up their tent that they had never used before. It went up fairly easily once we threw the directions away and just figured out how all the poles went up. :)

D&C just chilling in the camper.

Paula had a game that we played. I can't remember what it was called but I took pictures while everyone else played.

Cody brought a gun and we went to a nearby cinder pit to do some target shooting. We ran into Ryan and he joined us. He had a couple of his guns, too.

I wish I had a video of Jim shooting Ryan's pistol. Not sure what kind of gun it was but it had quite a kick apparently. Ryan shot it and then offered to let Jim shoot. He warned Jim to grab it with both hands. Good thing he did, too, because it nearly knocked him on his rear. We all got a kick out of it. Plus it was SO loud. The rest of us spectators kept our ears plugged.
Taralee, Trace, and Brody came up to spend the afternoon on Friday. It was special to have them with us, too. The only one missing was Rustin. and we missed him. He would have loved camping.
So we made a visit to the hollow tree. Brody wasn't real sure about it but we got a couple pictures of him in it and trying to get out of it. haha

I'd say Brody and Trace are pretty much alike. Here they are giving Ryan directions while he's splitting some firewood for us.
Good thing we had Ryan. He can split a stack of wood faster than anyone I know.

Every wood splitter needs a good audience. and such a cute one at that!
Do we see a pattern here? :) This boy does everything his daddy does.

Beautiful sisters.

Porter family.

Sitting around the campfire.
The Whipples camped with us too.

Brody loves Uncle Ryan.

Danica and Cody enjoying the campfire.

We climbed the Greens Peak tower with Danica and Cody and I took this awesome picture. It's my favorite of the whole weekend.
I loved our weekend and am so thankful to live in a country where we are free to do such things with the people we love the most. I'm ready to go again. We love the outdoors.

Jon is looking over my shoulder, now he is as jealous as I am when you go camping. We have lots of great memories at Green's Peak and that area. We used to make a yearly trek up there. My favorite time was when the aspen trees were dropping their leaves and they would be sitting on the pine boughs . . . . pretty, pretty, pretty. Oh, and watching the birds playing in the wind "gliding" , around the peak.

Looks like lots of fun. wish we could get our kids to go camping! Sarah is the only one that wants to and between two jobs and school, it just doesn't happen, sigh!

That last picture of Danica and Cody is my favorite too. Although, I REALLY like the ones of Trace and Brody. They look IDENTICAL!! :) It is so cute.
