Ongoing project

......Well, needless to say, our ship still hasn't come in ....AND the deck rotted. haha We have a smart alec son who bought this sign for us as a gift one year. That was about the time the deck was really about to give way and was basically unsafe to walk across. In fact, one time Jim fell through a portion of it clear up past his knee. Kind of scary, seeing as how it is probably 14 feet down to the ground from where that happened. Anyway, we fixed part of the deck three years ago. Maybe longer. I can't really remember, but we decided or Jim decided it was time to finish repairing the rest of it.

So he called his good friend Pete Whipple, who helped him with the first part of the deck years ago and he drove up from the valley and helped Jim for several days. Those two are a pair, I'll tell you. They have more fun when they are together, even when they are working hard.

Anyway, here's a few pictures showing proof that the deck is down. We still have to buy the rest of the railing to install, but we'll have to put that off until we make another trip to Utah. Either that or see if they could mail it to us. Actually, we'll probably have to wait a while to buy the railing. We have to wait for another "dingy" to come by. I'm sure it won't be a real "ship." haha

I hope some of you are lucky enough to have a good friend like Pete. Jim would have never finished that deck without his help. We sure appreciate him. And we are thankful Chris let him come up to the cool country for a few days to help out. She couldn't come so we missed having her here.

That is neat to have a friend like that. Jon has traveled so much and stuff that he has seemed to be able to spend that much time with his friends. Maybe when he retires . . oh he "did" that or something . . HA!

I sure envy your trees!

Wow! It looks so nice! Pete loved going up and being in the cool weather. He loves time with Jim too!

smart alec? me? please...
I sure wish I could have been there to help do this other part of the deck. Remember last time when dad hoisted up that beam and missed the support beam and almost killed himself and pete and dang near ripped off his middle finger?
