New York City Travelers, part 1

This is a picture is of the New York University Dental School. Rustin took us on a little tour of it. It's quite the place. I am so glad he made it through his first year. It was so difficult and I am sure I don't even have a clue how difficult it actually was.
This is inside Rustin's apartment--picture of his desk where he does a lot of studying.
Radio City Music Hall...
We went to a Broadway play--"Legally Blonde." It was good. We had some good laughs and enjoyed it.

This is the New York City City Hall building. Makes Show Low's look a smidgen small. haha

Picture of Empire State Building. We went inside the lobby. Very pretty but it is undergoing some renovation so we didn't go up to the top. We went to the top of the Rockefeller Tower instead.
Madison Square Garden....
We spent a lot of time sitting in the subway stations and of course riding the subways and buses. It felt good to sit down. Our feet were MISERABLY sore! We did lots of walking.
We ate lunch at the Shake Shack. So tasty. Really good hamburgers and milk shakes. Kind of pricey, as was all the food. Well, we did eat some pretty inexpensive pizza which was really good.
We walked across the Brooklyn bridge and ate dinner at Grimaldi's pizza and then walked back. The night lights were beautiful.
Oh, and while we were in Brooklyn, I saw this Gulf Oil sign which I thought was interesting. It wasn't selling gasoline anymore but had been turned into a place selling used cars. Kind of strange that they didn't take down the old Gulf sign.

The Statue of Liberty was AWESOME. I got some good pictures of it. It was a very beautiful place and there was a good feeling there. Very tight security though. See the airplane at the top of the first picture????

We walked through Grand Central Station. It was beautiful and very ornate looking. It's the place where everyone goes to catch a train out of New York City.

We went to a NY Yankee's game. I have to admit, that was the eye opener of the trip. The NY Yankee fans have got to be the most vulgar, rude, impolite, crude, and downright "ignernt" people I have ever encountered. We left at the fifth inning because we were sick of hearing all the vulgar language. I am still amazed that grown people act that way. A M A Z E D, I tell you.

This has got to be one of my favorite pictures of the trip. haha Danica and Rustin made their "ugly" faces. And UGLY is an understatement. haha I was laughing so hard! It was a good bit of entertainment during the Yankee's game. (Yankees lost, by the way, 9-3 to the Toronto Blue Jays. ...I was glad about that! ha)
Next year the Yankees will be in their brand new stadium. Here's a picture of it. It is right next door to the old one.
Of course we went to Wall Street. This is the NY Stock Exchange and the famous bull.

We ate some delicious popovers at the Popover Cafe. Cool looking, huh? And of course, we had some New York cheesecake one night. One piece fed about 3 of us. They were huge pieces.

This is the subway right by Rustin's house in Harlem. If you see the little green found-shaped awning down below, his door to his apartment is right next to that. It's hard to see but it is right next to my left shoulder.

Of course, we went through Central Park. Here's some pictures we took there. It's a beautiful place. Lots of people use that park and after being in the city for a few days, I can see why. Everything else around there is concrete or pavement.

FAO Schwarz toy store. I didn't go in but there were neat things in the windows.
More posting tomorrow. I'm worn out. ;o)

looking back, you all look much happier in the pictures that you probably were having to walk about a billion miles. I'm glad you guys posed well! haha. And thanks for posting the double chin pics. hilarious! and disgusting!!! I think Danica wins the ugly prize though. The pictures turned out really nice. I wish I would have downloaded them onto my computer while you all were here. I'm so glad you all came. It was great to have you around here and to show you my "hood" haha. I'm just glad none of us got shot on this trip.

So what is Up Town and what is Down town?

OK, downtown is the south end of Manhattan, where all the tall, fancy buildings are. Uptown is the "hood" where Rustin lives. haha Is that right, Rustin????

Couple of points here...
- I'm glad Rustin is finding all the good places to eat for my next trip.
- Danica and Rust, don't ever make those faces again.
- Wrong end of the bull. I think the other end is much safer, that's where Rustin posed.
- I think I want a popover, but I'm not sure. It looks like a lump of burned bread.
- You guys should have taken "Kari" with you!
- Stop walking, already! You're making my feet hurt.
